Description: The original part of Town Creek B&B is over 106 years old. The construction is consistent with that of an early Texas Sunday House. This was learned after inspecting the limestone foundation of the house. There have been at least Town Creek 1890's Housetwo major room additions to the original part of the house plus the upstairs attic was converted to living space at some point in time. The beaded board walls are original as are the pine wood floors. One can still see ducting where the heat stoves stood in the various rooms and scorch marks on the floors. The German settlers who were brought to Fredericksburg by the Society for the Protection of German Immigrants in Texas in 1848 were given land grants of 100 acres each. Married immigrants were also given an additional 1 acre plot in town. The Sunday Houses were built in town on these on acre plots for the use of the families while attending Sunday services, doing commerce, socializing, etc., which took place mainly on weekends. What is now the parlor of the Victorian Rose Suite was probably the original structure having the characteristic two rooms with two outside Victorian Rose Parlorentrances on the front of the Sunday House. The parlor was clearly two individual rooms at one point in time.
Town Creek was first used as a bed and breakfast in the 90’s View from the back side of town Creek B&B beginning with the Victorian Rose and Ivy Suites. Then the Garden Cottage was added as a separate building from the house and shortly thereafter the large gardener's shed was converted into the Planter's Suite. At some unknown point in time the long back porch was enclosed with windows and the sun porch was created. In December of 2003, the little cottage to the west was acquired and the original farm property was once again united. This cottage was named Sydney's Cottage after one of our grand-daughters because it looked likes a little girl's doll house. A new kitchen porch entry was added and Sydney's Cottage was divided into two suites, Zoe's Place (named after another granddaughter) is the upstairs portion of the house. Sydney's Place is the downstairs portion of the house.
