Description: Built in 1785, The Van Schaack House (reputed to be the first law school in New York State) has retained the beauty and elegance of its time - much like the quaint countryside town of Kinderhoook, NY where the mansion stands. Located among the unspoiled landscape of Columbia County between Hudson (we're minutes away from numerous antiques shoppes) and Albany (theatre, ballet, pro and college sports and the city's active nightlife), The Van Schaack House has entertained many distinguished guests over time. John Jay, Gouverneur Morris, Judge Benson, Aaron Burr, Martin Van Buren, Washington Irving and others have all at one time or another enjoyed the comforts this grand mansion provides.
The Van Schaack House offers four elegant accomodations for those visiting the Hudson River Valley of New York. Guests will be greeted by antique furnishings and beautifully landscaped grounds, as well as an onsite gym, library, and computer room. Enjoy a full breakfast served fresh each morning. The Van Schaack House is within easy driving distance of Tanglewood, Rhinebeck and Saratoga. Come and visit the Hudson Valley, Columbia County, and Kinderhook, New York, and step back in time at the Van Schaack House.
Other Amenities: Upon entering the Van Schaack House, you'll be greeted in a spacious foyer whose spectacular stairway is an inviting path to your accommodations. Four rooms are available for visitors. Two of the four are arger than the other two. All have private baths. The gym is available, while the Library may offer a selection to keep the mind sharp. A Computer Room is also available.
The Dining Room has served prominent guests and the sitting room is the perfect spot for an after dinner drink shared among friends. Several other rooms are weaved through the intricate layout of the mansion. Each offering guests a private, comfortable setting. The entire home is filled with art, artifacts, and antiques from around the globe, but there is a hint of modern day conveniences. Each bedroom has cable TV and a VCR. Irons, ironing boards and hair dryers are also found in your room. Robes and bath products are provided. |
