Description: The Seaside Inn Bed and Breakfast is an 1850's sea captain's home, sitting on a gently sloping hill in Port Clyde Harbor. The day starts early in this tiny harbor village as those who work on and around the sea rise early to meet the day. Our breakfast room overlooks the busy working harbor where you can watch the lobster and fishing boats, or catch a glimpse of the Monhegan Boat Line as it ferries passengers across the water. The general store, kayak rental shop, art galleries, the marina (selling live lobster fresh off the boat), an antique shop and an ice cream parlor, all bustling throughout the day, close by early evening. The Dip Net Restaurant on the water's edge, tucked away behind the general store and renowned for its excellent cuisine, is open until 10.
While in Port Clyde, be sure to visit Marshall Point Lighthouse. On a winding road uphill from the Inn, it is one of the most photographed and painted lighthouses in Maine. The former light keeper's house is now a museum open to the public in season. Drift Inn Beach, a small sandy beach with rocky tidal pools, is a quick drive or a 20 minute stroll away. Bring your paints, your sketch book, your journal or your camera. Professional and amateur artists of all kinds find inspiration in Port Clyde.
