Description: National House, a twelve room stone Colonial home, was built in the early 1800s by Levi Buchanan for use as an hotel and stage coach stop. It is situated within the area known as Charleston, a small crossroads village that is half-way between the towns of Mercer and Sharon. The home has been continuously occupied either as an hotel or private residence for well over 150 years.

Three comfortable guest rooms are available: the Leslie, Virginia, and Mollie Buchanan rooms, the latter named for Levi Buchanans granddaughter. In the entrance hall, a simple but graceful staircase leads to these second floor rooms. Guests may gather in the living room with gas log fireplace, for conversation or Scrabble at the game table. Smoking is permitted on the porch where seating is available. A generous breakfast is served in the dining room and includes freshly made bread or muffins and other wholesome, delicious country style food.

National House is only a short distance from the colleges and universities of Thiel, Grove City, Slippery Rock, and Westminster. An easy drive away, you will find the Grove City Prime Outlet Shops, the fascinating Amish country, many antique stores, and excellent dining. Other nearby attractions include Buhl Farm Park and golf course, chocolate candy factories, and the worlds largest shoe store. For spectacular beauty, McConnells Mill State Park, Pymatuning State Park and Shenango Reservoir are also in the area. Your innkeeper will be pleased to make suggestions for enjoying all the locale has to offer-- whether it be historic attractions, outdoor activities, or other interests. National House is located at the intersection of the Greenfield-Charleston Road and U.S. Route 62N in the village of Charleston, about 5 miles east of state Route 18 in Mercer County.

Other Amenities:
"The Mollie Buchanan Room:
A snug, cheerful room with a full-size antique, white iron bed, old-fashioned nightstands, and lamps. Like Mollie herself might have done in the 1800’s, settle back in the Amish rocking chair with a good book for a relaxing hour or so.

The Leslie Room:
Spacious front room features graceful wrought iron twin beds, writing table, comfortable, reading chair and well-stocked bookcase. This room is decorated primarily in white and soft beiges. Symmetry, light, and the soothing colors combine to form a pleasant retreat. The bath with shower stall is adjacent to this room.

The Virginia Room:
Expansive, gracious room located in the front of the house is decorated in restful tones of tan, rose, and sage. Special features of this room include the cherry wood queen-size bed, antique dresser, inviting seating area for quiet conversations, and an attached private bathroom. Robes provided."
