The original inn building, The Jacob Schoch House, was built in 1906 as a summer home for a wealthy Philadelphian. The Samuel Aurand was built in 1838 as a public house and tavern. John grew up in The Samuel Aurand where his parents had a corner grocery store. Over the last decade, The Inn has blossomed into one of Pennsylvania's truly outstanding restaurants and country inns.
