Description: The Claremont hotel has provided a classic Maine vacation to visitors of Mount Desert Island, each summer since 1884. Our six acre ocean front resort accommodations include the historic hotel building with 24 rooms and the Phillips House with six rooms. Lodging is offered on the Modified American Plan, featuring fresh Maine lobster or Bed and Breakfast meal plans. Our 14 housekeeping cottages with fireplaces, decks and kitchenettes are ideal for family vacations, or romantic weekend getaways. On site facilities include, fine dining, dock, moorings, boat house, rowboats, tennis court and croquet courts. A private location for destination wedding weekends, family reunions and signature vacations in the Maine Coast tradition.Acadia National Park, one of the East Coasts most popular family vacation destinations, offers the naturalist opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, sailing and swimming. Other area activities include sailing, fishing, whale watching and three area golf courses. We are located twenty minutes from Bar Harbor with all its shops, activities and resources.
Other Amenities: The historic hotel building provides twenty- four recently renovated, traditionally appointed guest rooms. The Phillips House includes six guest rooms, one a suite, two rooms with fireplaces, welcoming front porch veranda and large common living room with fieldstone fireplace.Our fourteen housekeeping cottages, each with wood or gas burning fireplaces range in design from contemporary to traditional split log style. Cottages vary in occupancy from two in the Wentworth studios to seven in the Rowse House and in location from shorefront to a quiet woods setting.
