Description: Our 220 year old farmhouse is ready for the next 200 years. It has modern systems, including super insulation, hot water baseboard heat, whole house ventilation with air-to-air heat exchange, new plumbing and electrical, and wireless broadband Internet access. The farmhouse meets the newest safety codes, including fire and heat detection, a fire sprinkler system, and handicap accessibility.
A "dustpan" dormer was added to the south roof, with large picture windows. Now the house has passive solar heating as well as great views. The new windows bring sunlight into the house throughout the day, and the moon and stars at night. A smaller dormer was added to the north roof, to gain space upstairs and to take advantage of the view in that direction. A porch on the driveway side, and decks to the south, and east provide guests with comfortable outdoor living.
Other Amenities: "The large living room, with gas fireplace, the large dining room, and several outside decks can accommodate both intimate small groups and large gatherings. We have basic Direct TV satellite service, and we will provide you with a portable TV for your room on request. We have DVD and VCR players available also. There is a video rental store at the Union Common, 2 miles away.
We ask that you not watch TV downstairs in the living room, except as a planned group activity, to maintain the area for general conversation. We will give you an extension phone to use in your room if you request, to receive or make specific calls. Long distance calls must be paid for when they are made. We also make available to guests a computer, printer, scanner, wireless DSL Internet access, fax, copier, and basic office supplies." |
