Description: The first bed & breakfast in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, the Martin Hill Inn has been welcoming guests from around the world to this vibrant and historic city since 1978. Located just a ten minute walk from the heart of Market Square, the land on which the Inn is situated was sold by New Hampshire Lt. Gov. George Vaughn to the Martin family in 1710 for 50 British pounds. Over the years, this area of Portsmouth became known as Martin Hill. The Inn serves a full breakfast each morning. Guests have their own off-street, paved parking lot adjoining the gardens. The Inn is within walking distance of Portsmouth's shops, waterfront, award winning restaurants and historical attractions.
The Inn is entirely smoke-free. It has been featured in ""Country Inns"" magazine, has been chosen for two consecutive years as a Yankee Magazine Travel Guide to New England "Editor's Pick" and is listed in the 2005 Yankee Magazine Weekend Getaways guide for New England. It was also voted by inngoers and readers of Arrington's Bed & Breakfast Journal as one of fifteen inns in the "Best on the Eastern Seaboard"
