Description: Come, enjoy the gracious hospitality and elegance of the finest Bed & Breakfast Buffalo has to offer, where the beds are oh-so-comfortable and the candlelight breakfasts superb. The Beau Fleuve B&B has five beautifully appointed guestrooms celebrating the nationalities that settled this friendly Queen City of the Great Lakes. The Beau Fleuve Bed & Breakfast Inn is located in a grand Stick-style residence in Buffalo's Linwood Historic Preservation District. Built circa 1881 for Colonel Charles Lee Abell, a Buffalo banker, the Beau Fleuve represents a blend of the medieval half-timber architectural tradition and Queen Anne eclecticism. The interior, with its unique oak staircase and nine colorful stained glass windows reflects the Aesthetic Movement-based on artistic and naturalistic themes-a companion of the Arts and Crafts movement. Its signature motif, the sunflower, appears in the house in both woodcarvings and art glass. Colonel Abell, descendant of a Mayflower pilgrim, led the 74th New York Regiment in the Civil War and later served as president of the National Trust Company. The Abell family lived in the house until the late 1930s. During World War IIthe house was converted into two apartments on the second floor and doctors' offices on the first. In 1986, restoration work began to return the house to single-family occupancy. In 1989, Ramona and Rik Whitaker became the new owners and continued the process. In March 1990, the Beau Fleuve Bed & Breakfast Inn, celebrating Buffalo's ethnic origins, was inaugurated. The Irish Room was the first to welcome guests. The German Room was opened in spring of 1991, the French Room in 1992, the Polish Room in 1993, and the Italian Room in 1995. Exterior restoration and painting in rich authentic Aesthetic Movement colors were completed in the summer of 1994. Exterior lighting, landscaping, and additional improvements have followed (and continue) as the Whitakers complete their plans to ensure that this lovely historic residence at 242 Linwood Avenue continues to please the senses with its elegance and grace for many decades to come.

Other Amenities: All rooms have down comforters, ceiling fans and coffeemakers. The inn has central air conditioning.
