Seattle Travel and Summer Vacation Ideas
Widely known for it’s wet weather and famous residents such as Bill Gates, Seattle, Washington is surprisingly dry and temperate during the Summer. This makes Seattle a popular Summer vacation destination for travelers from all over the world. There are numerous things to do and see while visiting Seattle, the most populous city in the Northwest, but several notable landmarks are highly recommended. This suggested list begins with the world-famous Space Needle, towering 605 feet above the ground, and drawing millions of vacationers annually. The Space Needle’s observation deck offers beautiful scenic vistas of the city’s skyline, fishing harbors, and Seattle’s picturesque downtown. Enjoy a gourmet dinner at SkyCity, a unique experience as the restaurant revolves 360 degrees around the space needle while you dine and take in the panoramic views. Alive with activity with over 200 stores including the original Starbucks, Pikes Place Market in Seattle’s downtown is enjoyable for vacationers of all ages. Located on Seattle’s waterfront, this historic market is renowned for it’s wide assortment of restaurants, imported goods, homemade cheeses, honey, and wine. And of course, don’t forget the famous ‘flying fish’ spectacle put on by workers at the fresh seafood depots located within Pikes Place Market. Visit the Seattle Aquarium and walk under water in a glass enclosed dome while sharks swim ominously overhead. And no family vacation to Seattle would be complete without a visit to the Woodland Park Zoo, one of the world’s oldest and widely diverse zoos, with over 300 species and 1,000 animals from across the globe. Lodging is plentiful and unique as the city itself, varying from romantic bed and breakfasts on the Puget Sound, to cozy, oceanfront cottages, to luxury hotel and five-star resort accommodations near the Seattle Waterfront. Recognized as the ‘Emerald City’ for it’s surrounding lush, evergreen forests, Seattle, WA is full of amazing sites for visitors to discover this Summer, and throughout the year.
